Magazines!

They're Everywhere!!!!
I went hunting for a hairstyle magaine this morning in preparation for my appointment to have my haircut today, and I couldn't believe how many magazines I have stashed around this house. I was horrified....I started clearing them out of a big basket I have in the family room, then headed to the two magazine baskets in the living room. After that I was on a mission to find them wherever they hid...up to my scraproom...orgainized in boxes in the guest bedroom closet, in a basket in the bathroom.
I have subscriptions to 3 scrapbooking magazines, 1 of them just expired and Im NOT renewing it.
I have subscriptions to Better Homes and Gardens an Sunset Magazines.
Paul has a subscription to golf digest.
Why do we hold onto these things?
Because their expensive, thats why!
(except scrapbooking magazines, because I do read those over and over again when Im looking for some mojo)
Reminds me of my Mom the other day. She retired several years ago after many years of working in the business world. She had lots of really nice clothes which she packed up and put in the basement when she retired.
So she says to me and my two sister in laws...next time you girls come over we need to head to the basement and you guys can go through those boxes and see if there's anything you want. I have lots of size 8's & 10's. Both of my sil's and I busted out laughing. We say, Mom...shoulder pads are not really in style anymore! LOL. So I ask you again, why do we hang onto stuff???
Well, no more. These things are headed to the garbage today...bye, bye!!!

Seahawks are heading to Motown!

As long as I can remember I've been a football fan.
First while growing up in California it was the 49ers. I use to go to the games with my Dad.
But for the past 20+ years now, its been the Seahawks. So many of those years were pretty bad years for the Seahawks.
I remember when fans wore a brown paper bag on their head because they were ashamed to be seen in the stadium and called themselves Sea-aints. I remember some years where we came so close, but couldn't make it through the playoffs. A few years ago Paul Allen bought the team and built a shinny new stadium for the hawks, they brought in a top notch head coach and started building the team. But we'd heard it all before so again we waited. I have to admitt every game I kept waiting for the hawks to meltdown as they've done before. Its not that we don't have the talent, its just that they go on a winning steak then they meltdown.
And through it all Seattle fans have had lots and lots of hope.
Seattle Fans have got to be the all time best fans ever for both the Mariners and the Seahawks. We stick by our teams though thick and thin. We always believe that maybe this was going to be our year. We always end the season disapointed again and we hear the excuses ... the team is in a rebuilding stage, next year we're going to be tough to beat. On and on it goes ... looking forward to spring training for th Mariners, looking forward to the preseason for the Hawks. The hope that someday we'd go all the way.
And yesterday Seattle fans were rewarded. This time we're going to the big dance, no excuses now. We earned this trip.

I just wish I had been watching yesterdays game with my Dad. That man knows every player stat, every bit of team trivia, he can probably recite any seasons team rooster.
Man, I can't wait to watch the superbowl with him in two weeks. A dream come true for all of us.

rain rain and more rain...and congrats to the best online store!

the rain... even though this is Seattle and we're suppose to be use to it, this rain has been a little tough, even for us with web feet up here in the beautiful Northwest.
But as good Seattlites do, we just keep on doing everything you do when its not raining.
Because of all the moisture up here things tend to get this slimmey moss or algee on the walkways and deck. Paul got this pressure washer for Christmas and he's been just dying to try it out but was waiting for the rain to stop. The other day I told him that he's gonna get wet anyway so he might as well just go wash the deck anyway.
That was all the nudge he needed. After a while he had me hand him an umbrella... but not because he didn't want to get wet, it was because his glasses were getting too wet from the rain to see what he was doing! LOL
I think he was pretty happy with how well the washer cleaned off the deck but he'll need to give it another good cleaning in the spring then reseal it. The pressure washer actually took the wood sealer off :-)
and then......Im so excited with the news that my all time most favorite scrapbooking website won the ScrapJazz award for the best online store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could not be more thrilled for Jill who works so hard to make Down Memory Lane the best online scrap store. Her site is the BEST, her message boards are the BEST, her team is the BEST! Im so happy she's gettting the recognition for it finally. Check it out here...

additcted to Nordstrom

but not in the way you would imagine. Paul and I will drive the 10 miles to the Nordstrom Rack any day, any time for one thing. It has nothing to do with clothes...its love in a cup.
Nordstrom Yougurt Parfet...THESE things are my all time favorite treat.
I asked my BIL who works for nordys, what kind of yougurt they use and he said that they make it themselves! huh?
Ive tried to recreate these treats with many different kinds of yougurt and cannot find the same amount of tart and sweet combo. The granola is the BEST!
So, I guess I'll need to keep driving, through rain, sleet or sun to the Rack for a yougurt parfet. Maybe I'll do a little shopping to...as long as Im already here :-)

I got a little book at a funky little shop this afternoon. Its full of really fun quotes. The book is simply titled - refresh. They had a bunch of different ones like Joy, Love, Peace and so on...my quote for today- Learn to pause...or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you ~ Doug King

making a list or two...

So my last post was on my New Year suggestions…why? Because its that time of year, 'tis the season for resolution and goal making, for wiping the slate clean and starting all over with a fresh agenda, examining what I want to change about my live and how I want to improve, to reshuffle, reorganize…all that stuff.
I'm normally not much of a list maker but I’m really going to try and change that this year because when you make a list, it’s a plan. When you have a plan, your closer to making it reality…
I want to have a plan for simplifying and organizing because Im seriously going to acheive this goal this year. Im setting a timeline, steps and mile markers to make sure I’m on track to achieve this by the end of 2006.
What I hope to do is decide which rooms to tackle first, prioritize them. This is already Thursday and I want to start clearing stuff out this weekend. I have the start of my list here but its just the beginning.
  1. First things first. I have taken the Christmas tree down but the ornaments are still lying all over the dinning room table. They need to get wrapped up and tucked into their box this weekend.
  2. All of the other Christmas decorations have been taken down and piled on the dinning room table too. They also need to get put away.
  3. Next will be to clean out and organize the closet in the guest bedroom. Now that doesn’t sound like a huge task, but it is. Since it’s a spare closet EVERYTHING gets shoved in there. Its jam packed and its going to be a huge job.
  4. After that I can paint that room, put in some new bedding and it will be done.

That’s the beginning of the organizing/simplifying part of the New Years list. Whoopee, I bet you enjoyed that huh?

I haven’t done Thankful Thursday in awhile (because I’m not good at lists remember?) but it’s a new year so here goes…

    I’m thankful for-
  • Having a wonderful 5-day weekend holiday for New Years.
  • Having a husband that says he’d rather stay home than go anywhere. That way he can relax and I can scrap : -) What a man! Love that guy
  • Brooks and Dunn’s song “Believe” I really lovin’ this song right now. Play the CD constantly.
  • I really focused on taking some quality pictures on Christmas Day. I just picked them up from Costco and I can tell you that I’m oh so pleased with many of them.
Finally thanks to all of you who stop by my blog now and then and say hi.
I really appreciate all your kind comments and todays list could not have been exciting for you...thanks :- )

new years resolutions

its that time again...I usually think of 2-3 resolutions every new year.
Really they're more like suggestions to myself...something to think about for a week or two. Thats about how long it takes me to forget them!

This year I have 4 "suggestions" to myself
1) healthy eating- that does not mean diet, it means cut out processed flours and sugars. It means eat healthy- whole grains, fresh fruits and veges- something I can live with.
2) organize- I seriously need to get some things organized around here.
3)Simplify - goes with organization...I need less stuff. A lot less stuff!!!
4)Debt - last year for the first time in years and years we allowed ourselves to take on a little bit of debt. Not much, just a little bit...but I hate it!!! It drives me nuts. So it needs to go away very soon!!!

Thats it. Those are my suggestions to myself. I think all 4 of them will make me a much happier person. Im going to hang this layout in my scraproom to remind me what they are...
