Sunny Sundays and Daisys

Last weekend Paul and I ended up in Seattle for the day.
It wasn't planned, which is usually when we have the most fun.
It kind of just happens.
We don't have plans and don't need to be anywhere.
We were doing our weekend chores thing and after running to the grocery store I asked him if he wanted to run into town and go shopping .
I married the right man because anytime I say shopping or downtown he's all over it.

On the way home we stopped off at Alki Beach which is a cool little place where people roller blade, bike, walk, see and be seen.
Its just across the sound from Seattle so I snapped of a few pics.
Nice day. Fresh air. Shopping and lunch out.
What could be better?

These daisys hanging over my coffee pot to brighten up my mornings, thats what...
I love daisys.
Any kind or any color.
Gerbina Daisys are my all time favorites but I love the simple old fashion kind too.
And they last for weeks! These ones are over a week old and they still look perfect. Roses last about 3 days for me. Im not sure why, but three or four days and they start looking all droppy and sad.
I like daisys so much more.
They're more me. Simple, not stuffy, more down to earth, they're just plain ole' daisys
:-) alot like me

Memory Makers Masters

I really love entering the big scrapbook contests, HOF, PKPT, Make it Meaningful and Memory Makers Masters.
I love them because they push me.
They push me to make each layout the best that I can make it.
Im really not into making as many layouts as I can possibly push out.
I don't try to scrap my entire life, just a few special pictures that really speak to me....they say something I really want to remember or something I want my family to remember.

Entering these contests makes me want to make each and every layout really special.
I admit Im disappointed when I don't win, but not for long.
I still treasure each one of the layouts for the process that went into making each one of them.

Last year I only entered one contest. Memory Makers Masters.
I didn't win, but Memory Makers did ask for one of the layouts in my entry to be published in the best of the Memory Makers Masters book, out this month. Yippeee!

Thats kind of like a runner up to a runner up :)
This is the layout out of my entry that they published in the book. I don't think it was my favorite layout in my entry, but I was happy with the way it turned out. My faforite was my layout for the required theme of Comfort and Joy. We had to send the original Comfort and Joy layout in to MM, and we dont get them back unless their published. Thankfully I made a duplicate of mine :)

For some reason MMM likes me more than any other magazine so far. I think I've had 6 or 7 different layouts published with them, which for me is alot! I plan on entering MMM contest again in 2006. Maybe I will be a full blown runner up this year! : )

speaking of redecorating...

So I have this room in my house were all the stuff goes that doesn't have a home.
Its basicly a guest bedroom, but theres oh so much more in there...

Paul tells me two weeks ago his brother is coming to town and is going to stay in that room.
Is he crazy...I keep the door closed on that room!
The time to redecorate this room passed long ago, but with company coming I had to put it in hyperspeed.

So I took some of the stuff out...took it to the goodwill.
Took some more of it out...took it to the garage.
Took some more of it out and threw it away.
Painted it, put in some new lighting, new blinds and some new furniture in it.

It now looks like this!

then Paul brother comes to town...no, he's not S-T-A-Y-I-N-G at our house...
He's stopping by though, and we go out to dinner.
...but I just ran the marathon of redecorating for nothing...
except the room is now done and I can start leaving the door open :)

2006 resolution progress

Two of my resolutions at the start of 2006 were that I wanted to simplify and organize.
No one is more surprised than I that its now ONLY March and Im actually already working on these resolutions!
I know!!! its crazy... I am so into it I can't even believe it myself.
I want to throw everything away these days. Everything...
I just am so tired of the clutter around me that it needs to go.
I want to open closets and see lots of empty space.
I want to open drawers and have them almost fly open because their empty.
Im feeling only a moment or two of longing as I haul stuff out of the house and put it in the back of the truck to be taken to the goodwill or to the dump.
A few moments of thinking, hmmmm I should have a yard sell and get money for this good stuff.
A few nano seconds of maybe I should keep this.
but I've been there before. If I stop and look at something long enough, I'll take it back into the house and tuck it away somewhere. If I put it in the garage to save for a yard sell, it will never happen and I'll be stuck with that stuff... So Im not gonna stop. Im not looking...
It feels good!

Finished...and on to something new

I've been so busy lately...working on an really exciting project and I just finished it this weekend. But now Im really sad that Im done with it.
It was so fun and I'm really happy with how it all turned out.
But now that its done I can move on to some other things that I really need to attend to...
we're going to be doing some remodeling on the house.
For what seems like forever we've gone back and forth with weather to move from this house or remodel it.
We finally came to the conclusion that we love where this house *is* and its appreciating at an alarming rate so we decided that we're going to stay put for awhile longer....
sooooo that means I want to remodel.
Lots of changes will be happening.
First off, this weekend we painted the guest room, replaced the lighting and went to look at new furniture for it. Yippee! This is a fun process but exhausting.

In my last post I said I wanted to start doing a corners of my home post. Its hard to do during the week, but on the weekend Im going to pick a corner or two and post them. Its really causing me to look at things and see what I like and what I don't.
The don't part is good for the remodel process :-)
The first corner is my new star from potterybarn. I love this thing and I've been waiting to get it for several weeks now.
The first one they shipped me was damaged in transit so I had to wait another week. The box was huge, about 4 1/2 feet square. But its finally here! Not hung yet because we're also going to put up a mantle. Hope to get that done really soon then I'll hang this puppy up.There's another one thats a little smaller which I may get too after we get this all done.

Another corner I love is my garden window at my kitchen sink. I try to keep a flowering plant in it. Just makes me happy. This ones been there since Christmas. The bonsai has been there a few years now. I think it likes it there too.
