I've Been Tagged by Mo

Here are the rules:* If you are tagged, you must firstly post the rules:

* Write 7 strange characteristics about yourself. They interest us all!
* Tag 5 other people at the end of your Post.
* Visit everyone that you have tagged and leave a comment on their blog to let them know that they have been tagged.
So, here goes...

--- I'm addicted to lotion. I cant stand my hands feeling dry so I put lotion on constantly. I have lotion in my car, in my purse, in almost every room in the house.

--- I have almost supernatural hearing...I can hear the smallest noise and it drives me nuts trying to figure out whats causing them. But, I cant hear my husband when he mumbles. Im constantly asking him what he said.

--- I get stuck on a favorite CD and listen to it over and over and over, for like...a year or so, before moving on to the next one. I cant have more than one favorite at a time.

--- I cry easily. I cry watching tv, I cry when I get yelled at, I cry at the drop of a hat, sometimes I cry for no reason. I'll see something that reminds me of something that makes me cry. Its a curse.

--- I love to paint. I could repaint inside my house over and over. I love to change things up. My husband says we're loosing square footage because the paint on the walls is getting so thick.

--- I get the hiccups when I eat bread and seem to choke on my food all the time. Not like I cant breath choking, but just the feeling sets off a coughing fit, sometimes at the worst possible time.

---I faint easily and get really really motion sick. I passed out once in my High school history class when they were talking about concentration camps, I've gotten so motion sick at times it lasts for 3-4 hours after Im no longer moving...rides at the fair and boat rides are definitely not my favorite things

Now Im suppose to tag 5 more people...but I dont have that many blogger friends. So, if your reading this, consider yourself tagged.

well, okay then....

<><>I think its all pretty true, most of it anyway. Funny what your choice of chocolate says about you...

What Your Taste in Chocolate Says About You

You are sweet, mellow, and easily satisfied.
You don't like anything too intense and dramatic.
Deep down, you're a kid at heart... and you're nostalgic for the past.
You are friendly, witty, and likable.
You charm is overwhelming. People are enchanted by you.
You have a comeback for anything. Because of this, you seem flippant at times.

You love being by yourself and thinking. Developing your own theories and ideas is fun.
You feel lost when you're forced to be social. Being with other people can be lonely for you.

pirated pirate on the run

So cool to find a video someone posted on Youtube of the concert we went to last week.
Not the best of videos and the guy without the shirt jumping around in front of the camera and the blonde chicks waving their arms around bug me, but seeing Pat and Brandi sing Pirate on the Run together again makes it worth watching anyway.

vacation day 2, concert afterglow

What a great much fun. Yesterday was the concert at Marymoore park Brandi Carlile, Pat Monahan, Jackie Greene.
Cameras werent allowed in the park, but I was able to sneak in my little powershot. I was a little afraid to pull it out, but after seeing lots of people snapping pics of Jackie, we took a few tentative shots ourself.
We had never heard much Jackie Greene music, but we sure loved it after seeing him in concert. What a surprise. To me, sometimes just listening to someones music doesnt do them justice. Seeing him perform live gives a whole new appreciation for this young kid with a huge talent.

Next came the guy we really came to see.
Train has been Pauls all time favorite band since the early '90's I think. Their music never grows old to us. The first CDs as good as the last. I was so excited, but a little worried when I heard that Pat had gone off on his own for a solo album. We were hoping this wasnt the end of Train.
Well, not only is it not the end of Train, Pat is just as good Solo as he is with a matter of fact, we dont hear too much of a difference.
Security was coming around while they set up for Pat saying that no cameras were allowed and telling people not to take pictures.
Still, there was no way I was leaving without pictures of Pat.
But, I had to keep my camera on my lap and so the pictures ... not so good :(

He played quite a bit from his solo album, but he also played several great Train songs - drops of Jupiter and calling all angels among them....sooooooooooooo cool

Brandi Carlile came out and sang one song with Pat. Its a duet that they sing together on his solo album. We knew that Pat lives in Seattle but we also learned that Brandi is a local girl too. She lives in a little suburb of Seattle not far from us. When she came out to sing we stayed for maybe 4 songs before we left.
and the most amazing sunset I think I've ever seen...this picture just didnt capture the blood red color of the sky.
As we were heading back to Seattle, I was snapping pictures of the lights, the spaceneedle, the moon and the boats on the water just for fun. I love the funky way these ones came out.

The end of a good day.

vacation day 1 Totally random post

This will be a weird random post today
lots of things Im loving right now and starting a week long semi stay vacation.
Semi because we're heading to the Oregon Coast to Manzenita beach for a few days in the middle of the week...of course those are the days expected to be cloudy with possible drizzle at the coast. Oh well....
Anyway, starting out the stay part of the semi staycation is a concert tonight with one of our favs...pat monahan, lead singer for Train. He has a new solo album out and is singing tonight at Marymoore excited for that.
After today I'll be doing some re-decorating around the house.
here's a little peek at some of the inspiration.
but before the decorating and painting can begin, a good cleaning is long overdue...
so this morning I've been scrubbing and cleaning. Finally got the summer bedding put on the guest bedroom. It finally looks like summer in there. Just in time for the stay-cation.
Which brings me to my next new favorite.
One of my new favorite products . I love the smell of this cleaner, and its septic system safe which is really hard to find. I love this stuff.
and because this is vacation after all, I had to break out something very special.
this is soap I buy every time we are in Maui. The first time we went to Maui I bought several bars and used one of them during our vacation. Ever since then, every time I smell this soap it takes me right back to that trip. This morning I broke open my last bar of Maui tropical soap. The scent has already filled the bathroom and I havent even used it yet...but I will.

Red Challenge

Sharon posted a photography challenge this weekend...her challenge was to take pictures of something RED, and post them on our blogs Monday. I thought this would be easy until I actually tried it. I did take three...
Sunday afternoon we took Macie for a walk along the Tacoma waterfront. This fire boat is at the monument for Tacoma firefighters...and an obvious choice for something RED.

and I spotted this row of pretty red pots at the nursery ... complete with fake green plants.

My stash of Red Washington apples for next weeks lunches.

Some favorite things

Trying these days to cut back on my use of disposable materials. That includes plastic sandwich bags and all those frozen lean cuisine lunches. Solution, bento box lunches. They're fun and easy and I find myself eating much healthier lunches when I prepare them myself.
I have been accumulating a variety of bento making supplies, nothing fancy but it all works. Silicone cupcake wrappers are great for placing things in to keep them separated inside the box. And they're reusable. I do get these little plastic cups from a local restaurant supply place and use them for my salad dressing.
Starbucks provides those used coffee grounds to gardeners free. Most Starbucks stores have a bucket where they place the garden grounds somewhere in the store. I try to grab a bag on my way out of the store each time. What to do with them?
Here in the northwest we have a lot of plants that love the nitrogen that you get from used coffee beans, Rhodie's, azaleas and hydrangeas. If your soil is alkaline or has a lot of clay, the coffee grounds do wonders to lower the soil PH over time. Also, the coffee-ground mulch can help keep those pesky slugs and snails out if you sprinkle them around the edges of plants or the garden. And, it’s free! Free is good....and the garden smells good too :)
These are a staple in my freezer...pre chopped herbs from Trader Joes. Love them...pop out the desired amount right into the pan. Easy and no chopping involved.

something I've done very little of lately and sorely missed

a real live layout...a full 12 inches worth!
I just havent done much scrapping at all really, and that's kinda made me a little sad. But with a new puppy in the house demanding my attention, and summertime calling us outdoors...who wants to be inside?
I know once fall rolls around and football is on TV and the fire is in the fireplace, I'll be heading up to my scrap room once again.
But I did get one done, and it felt pretty good

My 8 on the 8th project has been the only thing I've worked on much, but at least it keeps the creativity flowing, even if only at a trickle.
and so glad my July 8 on the 8th page is done before the end of July! Im very proud of that since last month I had three months worth of pictures to get caught up. So, 7 months in the book...yeah me :-)
This has been a really fun project though so its been easy to keep up with. At least I feel like Im scrapping the high points of our life, even it its only a peek. Keeping with the green, orange, black and white color theme I picked for this album

and because space is always an issue with this smaller size album, I decided this month to add a tag which I'll put between the two pages and the back
