loved this book...

I read this book while I was on vacation and loved it. I highly recommend Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan if your looking for your next book.
Its an emotional book, which I dont really choose to read when Im on vacation, but it was so good I could not put it down - a little exert from Amazon

"The Middle Place is about calling home. Instinctively. Even when all the paperwork -- a marriage license, a notarized deed, two birth certificates, and seven years of tax returns -- clearly indicates you're an adult, but all the same, there you are, clutching the phone and thanking God that you're still somebody's daughter."

Theres lots more to this story. Like a woman with small children going through breast cancer while her Dad is going through his third bout with his own cancer. I absolutely fell in love with her family stories and the bond she has with her Dad.

She has a website here - http://kellycorrigan.com/themiddleplace/videos.php
and you can watch a few videos of her reading parts of the book.

or you may have seen her youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_4qwVLqt9Q

but she also has a website http://www.circusofcancer.org/
that deals with how you can help a friend who has cancer.

More almonds please

Im so into almonds right now.
This year my buzz word for the year was Less.
The goal was to get away from the diet yoyo and just try to eat healthy and excercise more...no strict diet. No craziness. No stress. Just less.
Mostly less processed foods and more raw, organic and fresh unprocessed stuff.
Almonds are my favorite snack because they are so good, and so good for you.

I bought a huge bag at costco a few weeks before we went on vacation, and I took a baggie full of them with me on the plane. I think I spent the entire week munching on them.
Without getting out of control, Almonds are great to have just before a meal and the added protein really helps with those hunger pangs.
I just found out that their really low in carbs too, and that people with diabetes can make breads or cakes out of almond flour. I'm going to let my dad know that because he really watches his carbs these days.
Lately I've been adding some to my cereal or yogurt in the morning too.
Almonds are definitely a good thing.

Its like having a 2 year old in the house

Ever since we moved this rug under the kitchen table, Macie has claimed it as her own.
She hauls her toys up here, one by one until the rug is covered. It doesn't do any good to put them back in the basket, because she'll bring them out again.

During the day while we're at work, I don't think she ever leaves this rug. She is surrounded with all her favorites. Believe it or not, this is only a few of her toys. The dog is spoiled rotten, but she loves her toys and we cant resist buying them for her.
I think she loves this spot because from here she can see the front and the back doors. In the evenings she can keep an eye on me in the kitchen while I'm cooking and I like it because she's not under my feet.To make it even better I moved one of her little beds up here into a corner, not to make her any more comfortable in this spot, but rather to keep her from scratching at the rug, trying to make a nest!
This lovely mess is one of the first things you see when you walk in the front door. Nice!
Anyone walking through the door would think a 2 year old lives here. I think its really a good thing we hardly ever sit at this table too because we'd never get to it.
Its a constant mess, but its her spot and she's keeping it.
