Happy Fathers Day

We've never explored the Olympic peninsula of Washington State, so a picnic to the area was me and Marcie's present to Paul for Fathers Day. The weather was suppose to be iffy, but thankfully the rain held off for us to catch a glimpse of this beautiful area.

There were still lots of wildflowers mixed with bits of snow still on the ground. It was a little chilly up at the top, but the views were well worth it.

One day soon we will come back and explore more. We'll need to leave the furry friend at home though because she's not allowed on the hiking trails.

After spending just a short time at the top of the viewpoint, the weather started to roll in. Had we shown up a bit later, it would have been completely covered with clouds.
The picnic turned out great, and Paul really enjoyed what I had prepared, fried chicken, deviled eggs, carrot salad and chocolate chip cookies.

The lavendar fields are not quite ready, just now starting to bloom, but we stopped for a quick peek at one of the roadside farms.

All in all I think it turned out to be a perfect day for one of my favorite Dads, who definitely deserves to have a special day all his own.

Susan~What a Wonderful Wife you are! How lovely that the weather held off just long enough for you to catch that fabulous view of the mountains. ...and if the lavender fields look that pretty now, I can't imagine how they look at the peak!
