New years at Skamania Lodge

We rarely, okay make that never...go anywhere on New Years.
We usually stay home and watch Dick Clark on the TV, Paul falls asleep and as soon as its midnight we go to bed. Our neighborhood goes nuts with fireworks, so sleep is kind of impossible. Pretty exciting.
This year we decided to treat ourselves and book a few nights at one of our favorite places to stay in the summertime, the Skamania Lodge. This is really a summer place to go because its a golf course and its a big wind surfing spot on the Columbia river. There are lots of great hiking trails all around here as well as several wineries.
We were really excited to see it in the snow and see how they decorated it up for Christmas. It did not disappoint.
Everyone congregates in the lobby. Its full of rocking chairs, sofa's and huge four story windows. Usually in the evenings someone is playing the piano.
The fireplace is big enough to walk inside of...definitely a cozy spot to read, knit or just people watch.

Happy new year, from Skamania Lodge
